The Sights, Sounds and Tastes of Tbilisoba 2016:
TBILISI - Georgia's capital Tbilisi was teeming with local residents and visitors at the weekend as the city celebrated its diverse historical heritage and culture with its 36th annual Tbilisoba festival.
With the fragrant scent of mtsvade (skewered barbequed meat) and live classical music filling the city's Europe Square, crowds of people of had the chance to appreciate Georgia's rich culinary heritage.
Wine enthusiasts were treated to a degustation hosted by local small producers and monasteries, including vintages using the qvevri (traditional clay vessel) fermentation method that has been used in Georgia for 8,000 years.
Tbilisoba, a festival paying tribute to the city’s diversity, also welcomed its youngest guests to Rike Park, on the banks of the Kura River, which bisects the city.
