Half a Million Visitors Crossed Georgia’s Border in June
Almost half a million guests visited Georgia in June, 9.3 percent more compared to the same month last year.
Today, the Information-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs revealed the latest monthly report, showing that 496,758 people crossed Georgia’s border in June.
Of the half a million visitors, 197,537 were tourists (3.4 percent more than in 2014), 131,710 were transiting (80 percent more than in 2014) and 167,511 people came for other purposes (12 percent less than in June, 2014).
In addition, the Interior Ministry announced that in the first six months of 2015, 2 million 330 thousand guests arrived in Georgia, which is 3.5 percent more than the same period of last year.
In June alone, most visitors came from Turkey, a fall of 19.8 percent. Azerbaijan is second (+15%), followed by Armenia (+33%), Russia (+47 %) and Ukraine (-5%).
