Within the Week of Tolerance in Georgia last week, the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, awarded medals of Honor to Rusudan Gotsiridze, Bishop of the Evangelical-Baptist Church in Georgia, and Mother of Georgia’s southern Poka Monastery, Elisabeth (Meskhishvili).
The two female religious figureheads were awarded for their efforts to promote tolerance.
“I thank you for the appreciation,” Gotsiridze said at the awards ceremony. “It is highly important to support religious and ethnic minorities living in Georgia.”
Georgia's President Giorgi Margvelashvili agreed.
The President also hosted representatives of ethnic minorities living in Georgia at the Presidential Palace in Avlabari district and openly discussed their needs with them.
The Administration of the President of Georgia took the opportunity to also present a special information brochure about the projects financed through the Presidential Fund.
