Kazakh Embassy Celebrates 25 Years of Independence
On Friday 9 November, the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Georgia held its annual celebration of Kazakh independence.
The event was held in the new The Biltmore Hotel and saw the Prime Minister, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, in attendence alongside a number of other government officials and representatives of the diplomatic corps.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Yermukhamet K. Yertysbayev, opened the event with a speech in Russian, translated into English.
"The 25th anniversary of independence is a miracle symbolizing the large scale historical achievements of the people of Kazakhstan where a modern state was created for the first time in their history. 25 years of independence have become an era of progress, stability and sustainable development for Kazakhstan. Personally, I'm proud to have been at the forefront of our young state while declaring the independence of our country, as a member of parliament. There were a lot of sceptics at first, but the past 25 years have proven that Kazakhstan can be rightfuly called a successful country with a dynamically developing economy. I would say without any exaggeration that our country has managed to carry out probably the most affective marketory reformation in the former Soviet Union space. There were enormous transformations in the fields of economics, politics, and society. All the achievements and victories of Kazakhstan were possible due to the selfless work of the multi-national people of Kazakhstan under the leadership of President Nursultan Äbishuly Nazarbayev. Kazakhstan is stably moving to becoming one of the 30 world leaders consistently implementing the strategy 'Kazakhstan 2015' through thoughtful and fruitful international initiatives, the country has achieved high international authority and become a proclaimed leader of the Anti-Nuclear Movement. Concerning the Georgian-Kazakhstan relations, I would like to emphasize that they are friendly, mutually beneficial and fruitful. Georgia is the only state to the economy of which Kazakhstan has made such huge investment abroad."
He went on to invite all guests to Kazakhstan and the 2017 World Exhibition Expo.
The PM of Georgia replied to the Ambassador's speech in English.
"Georgia attaches great importance to the close relations between our two countries. I am extremely pleased that our cooperation, based on goodwill, mutual respect and unerstanding, is getting stronger with each year. I am confident that our frendship and trustworthy partnership will continue to advance politically, economically and socially and will continue to contribute for the benefit of our nations. Joint projects serve to bring our countries and their people together. It has been 25 since your people declared independence and your nation restored its sovereignty. Georgia this year is also celebrating 25 years of independence. Those 25 years have not been without challenges; we've come a long way since starting our journey but it is important to remember that it is precisely the burden and heroism of the past which Georgia and Kazakhstan share which pushes our people to move further in their determination to seek a free, fair, stable and prosperous furture."
The welcome was followed by a sumptous buffet with a table reserved for Kazakh delicacies, including horse meat and gozinaki. Live music entertained the guests until late, with the Ambassador himself applauded onto the stage to sing a number of rock'n'roll greats.
