Christmas and New Year Celebrations Planned in Tbilisi
The Tbilisi Municipality will be organizing a series of events from December 25 to January 2 to celebrate the coming Christmas and New Year. Deda Ena park will be transformed into a “New Year City” where guests can stroll through tunnels of flowers, see mechanical dolls, and visit decorated Christmas cabins to taste sweets and buy decorations and handicrafts. The celebration will be opened with a concert by renowned singer Vakhtang Kakhidze, followed by a variety of music and dance performances, including Salio, contemporary ballet, and hip-hop. Radio Kubrick will broadcast live from the Park with Georgian DJs performing at night.
There will also be an “art space” at the park, presented by ArtArea, which will host a number of installations by different artists.
The Christmas market will be open from December 25th, with Georgian designers and artists selling handmade souvenirs. New Year City will also offer sporting and children’s activities, including the “extreme sports” that the park attracts on an informal basis throughout the year.
The newly renovated portion of Aghmashenabeli avenue will also act as a venue, with hot air balloons, installations, arts performances, a train with wagons in the form of gifts, and a New Year market.
