Electricity Tariff Remains Unchanged for Households in Georgia
TBILISI - The Georgian Energy and Water Supply Regulatory Commission decided on Monday that the electricity tariff will unchanged for Tbilisi households, but increase for the commercial sector.
Specifically, the medium voltage electricity price for the commercial sector will be increased by 0.035 lari, while the high voltage electricity price will be increased by 0.446 lari.
The low voltage electricity tariff will remain unchanged for all sectors.
The price change will enter into effect on January 1 and remain in force until at least the end of 2017.
The tariff increase was necessary due to the lari's recent depreciation against the dollar. At print time, USD 1.00 was trading for 2.7302 GEL, while on December 1, 2016 the exchange was 2.5352 GEL.
