Chinese Company to Buy 5 Million Bottles of Wine from “Shilda”

TBILISI- A contract for five million bottles of wine was signed Wednesday by the Georgian producer Shilda and the Chinese importer Shangha Stsifan Trading. Shilda, founded by Mikheil and Natia ChKhartishvili, is advertising this deal as unprecedented, and amounting to nearly the entire quantity of wine exported from Georgia to China in 2016 as a whole.This, the company asserts, speaks to growing interest among Chinese consumers in Georgian wine. Shilda and Shanghai Stsifan Trading signed the agreement on January 11th, an auspicious date. The Georgian ambassador to the Peoples’ Republic of China and a representative of the Georgian-Chinese Friendship Association of The Georgian Trade-Industry Chamber attended the signing.
