ACT Cargo Flight Crashes in Kyrgyzstan

Thirty-seven people were killed after a cargo flight operated by ACT Airlines crashed near Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan's Manas International Airport on Monday, at around 01:40 UCT.

The flight, with registration number TC-MCL, departed from Hong Kong and was supposed to arrive to in Istanbul after a stopover in Kyrgyzstan.

The Boeing 747-400 was downed in a village outside the airport's territory. Reports currently suggest that heavy fog conditions caused the crash. Among those killed were two pilots and a member of the flight team. Many single-story houses in the village were damaged.

Turkish Airlines has announced that neither the aircraft nor the crew are members of Turkish Airlines.
