Fire Fighters Extinguish Blaze in Tbilisi City Council Building
TBILISI – It took 15 fire trucks to put out the fire that started early this morning at Tbilisi City Council (Sakrebulo).
According to the Emergency Management Service the fire began on the roof of the building. Soon after firefighters' arrival the building was evacuated, and the fire was extinguished. The Emergency Management Service reports that an area of around 30 square meters was destroyed, but no one was injured during the incident.
Irakli Nadiradze, member of the opposition party, United National Movement, says that the firefighters arrived soon after smoke appeared on the roof. “I hope, soon we will have the opportunity to get back to work," he said.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
