Adjara Tourism Department to Improve Guide Services

Practical manuals, training at major tourist routes, and eventually an official endorsement from the Tourism Product Development Agency and the Adjara Tourism Department are all in the works to enhance tourism services in the region of Adjara.

To receive the endorsement, Granting Quality Service Mark - Recommended by Adjara Tourism Department project, guides will have to attend the training sessions or take the quality mark exams directly to assess their professional expertise. Tour guides that pass all of their exams successfully will be officially recommended by the Adjara Tourism Department.

Additionally, the organizations plan to retrain tour guides for specific routes in the Adjara region and give them the opportunity to deepen their theoretical and practical knowledge of specific destinations. Last year, the agency for Tourism Product Development retrained guides on the routes to Machakhela and Keda.

A practical manual for tour guides will also be published that will provide the guides all the necessary theoretical and practical information, including a list of tourist destinations and routes for each municipality of the region. It will also include links and search engines. The manual is to be distributed in all the tourism education establishments in Adjara, that offer re-training of tour guides.
