It’s Official: Georgia Now Has Two Direct Air links With The UK
Continuing on from Georgia Today’s coverage of new air links between Georgia and the rest of the world, both Georgian Airways and Wizz Air have now released tickets for their new UK routes.
Georgian Airways will fly from Tbilisi International to London’s Gatwick Airport every Saturday and Monday commencing May 22. Flights will leave Tbilisi at 19:25 and arrive in London at 21:50 local time. Return flights leave at 22:55 from London and arrive in Tbilisi at 06:35 the following day. The airline has issued a promotion deal, at just €99 one-way for a select few tickets.
Wizz-Air will fly from Kutaisi to London’s Luton Airport on Thursday and Sundays commencing June 18, leaving at 15:55 from Kutaisi and arriving in London at 18:10 local time, and returning at 18:40, arriving in Kutaisi at 02:45 the next morning. Wizz-Air has advertised fares from €41 one-way. Georgian Railway are currently in talks over a new high-speed train link that will connect both Tbilisi and Kutaisi airports, as travellers wishing to reach Tbilisi from Kutaisi currently have to take a bus, taking 4.5 hours to reach the capital.
Tickets for the Georgian Airways route are not yet available on their website, but can be purchased using a number of different flight booking websites including Opodo and Skyscanner.
It is hoped that the new routes will bring continued economic and business ties with the UK, who are close allies to Georgia.
