Spanish Police Detain 48 in Operation against Georgian Gangs

The Spanish National Police official web page reports that 48 individuals, including some Georgian nationals, were arrested in a large-scale bust of Georgian gangs. The detained are accused of participating in burglaries, robberies, and theft.

The police have searched about 15 flats belonging to the detained individuals in variousSpanish cities and have found jewelry, stolen electronics, 13,000 euros, documentation, and tools allegedly used to commit robberies.

The police say that most of the detained Georgians have extensive criminal records, both from crimes committed in Spain as well as in Georgia.

The robberies took place in 2016 and 2017.
