PM Visits Border Guards at Georgia-Russia Border
TUSHETI, Georgia – Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili visited border guards at the Georgian-Russian border in Georgia’s mountainous Tusheti region to celebrate Border Guards’ Day with them on March 21st. Kvirikashvili thanked the guards for their bravery and courage while protecting their homeland.
“Serving our homeland is the most honorable mission. You are our country's faithful guards. I would like to thank you for your service and for the peace we have,” he told the guards.
Kvirikashvili also met with the local Tushetians and listened to their problems.
The Border Police of the Interior Ministry is carrying out a 5-year modernization, standardization and unification program to equip border police with modern technologies, renew infrastructure, and modernize the naval fleet and aviation facilities.
According to the PM’s press office, vehicles and personal equipment have been updated and border police communications and information systems have been improved with the help of the United States and European Union.
