Europe Day 2017 in Kutaisi

Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, H.E. Janos Herman, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, and Members of the Georgian Parliament will attend the #EuropeDay2017 celebration in Kutaisi on May 4, 2017.

The day will start at 15:00 hrs with a public lecture at Akaki Tsereteli Kutaisi State University, where Ambassador Herman, Tamar Khulordava, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on European Integration, and Giorgi Kandelaki, MP, will speak of the Association Agreement with the European Union and Georgia’s progress on the European path.

At 17:00 hrs, the guests will arrive in Kutaisi Youth Park where Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairperson of the Parliament of Georgia, and H.E. Janos Herman, Ambassador of the European Union to Georgia, will reveal the winners of a youth game “My European Adventure”. The three-hour game will bring together 150 pupils (15 teams) of local schools to test their knowledge of the European Union. The team with the exact number of stars needed to compile the European Union flag will be announced as the winner. The official award ceremony for the winning team will take place at the Parliament of Georgia in Tbilisi, on May 11, 2017.

The events in Kutaisi will be concluded by a gig of the local band Museumi. All events will be free entrance.

#EuropeDay2017 in Kutaisi is part of the Europe Week organized by the Parliament of Georgia, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and with support from the European Union. The Parliamentary Europe Week includes a series of public lectures in eight universities across Georgia, youth activities and an official Europe Day reception hosted by the Parliament Speaker on May 11, 2017.
