Manager of the Demirel College Arrested in Georgia

Mustafa Emre Cabuk, Power of Attorney of the Founding Partners for Turkish Schools in Georgia and former manager of Demirel College, was arrested in Tbilisi on May 24, following a warrant from Turkish Authorities, for his alleged connection to the FETÖ terrorist organization.

Demirel Private College is associated with Fetullah Gulen, who is allegedly associated with the military coup in Turkey in July 2016. Mr. Cabuk is accused of assisting one of the school founders in selling the school shares to a US organization which in turn, is reportedly linked with Fetullah Gulen. Tbilisi's civil court sentenced Mr. Mustafa Cabuk to a three month extradition imprisonment, despite the requested 10 000 Lari bail requested by his lawyers. Cabuk’s wife Tuba Cabuk denies the accusations and asks Georgian authorities not to process with extradition of her husband. In her comment to Rustavi 2 she said there is absolutely no proof of Mustafa Cabuk’s links with Fetullah Gulen’s terrorist organization. “He must not be exiled to Turkey, people are tortured in Turkish prisons, and everyone knows that” She said. “I’ve never faced criminal charges in my life, either in Turkey or Georgia. I’ve never even carried even a small knife in my life. I ask the Georgian authorities not to continue with my extradition to Turkey.” said Mustafa Cabuk at the hearin
