Georgia Celebrates Police Day
Today Georgia celebrates a professional day in honor of policemen. The special event at the Internal Ministry Office was started by the Minister of Internal Affairs, Giorgi Mghebrishvili. He congratulated the policemen and thanked them for their hard work and bravery. “We are step by step becoming the part of the Western world and international police cooperation is crucial to this purpose,” the minister said.
He said that in April 2017, the Interior Ministry signed an Agreement on Operational and Strategic Cooperation with Europol to expand cooperation to combat serious and organized cross-border criminal activities, which means that the Georgian police force has become a member of the European police community.
Mghebrishvili added that Georgia's security standards are getting better every day, according to various international ratings. "These accomplishments are the result of your efforts, enthusiasm and belief. Despite many daily challenges, you believe that you serve the greater good and contribute to justice and a better future for our children and our citizens. Thank you very much for this," he said during his address to the policemen.
The minister also awarded distinguished police officers with special awards and Certificates of Appreciation.
