Georgia Receives $403.3 m FDI in 2017

The National Statistics Office of Georgia (GEOSTAT) released preliminary data on foreign direct investments (FDI) in Georgia in the first quarter of 2017

The statistics say that in this quarter FDI amounted to $403.3 million, which is 3.7 percent more compared to the preliminary data for the first uarter of 2016.

Azerbaijan ($97 million), Turkey ($82 million) and the United Kingdom ($80 million) are the top three countries investing in Georgia in the given period. The sectores which saw the largest amount of investments, are transport and communication with $141.1 million (35 percent of all FDI); real estate with $80.3 million (20 percent of all FDI); finance with $79.6 million (20 percent of all FDI). The total amount of investment in these fields amounted to 74.6 percent of all FDI.

The National Statistics Office of Georgia is a legal entity of public law and carries out its activities independently. It is an institution established to produce statistics and disseminate statistical information according to Georgian legislation.
