Panorama Development Project, in Photos: Citizens Say "No"

Hundreds gathered to protest the "Panorama Tbilisi" project, on July 19 in front of the Tbilisi City Council on Freedom Square.


Representatives of various non-governmental organizations are asking for the “Panorama Tbilisi” project to be stopped, claiming that it could have serious negative consequences for the historical part of Tbilisi.

One protester was arrested for using offensive language both aloud and on paper. Others were arrested too, including green activist Nata Peradze and photojournalist Aleksandre
Giorgadze.


The Panorama Tbilisi project was initiated by Bidzina Ivanishvili with other members of the Co-Investment Fund who consider it a unique project for the capital city and an attractive
visit card for tourists as well as a great chance to develop Georgia’s future economy.


The Panorama Tbilisi Hotel Complex project is financed by Bidzina Ivanishvili and is going to be built in the Sololaki zone. it consists of four parts – Sololaki Gardens, Sololaki Hills, Erekle Square and Freedom Square.


According to “პაNOრამა” the project against “Panorama Tbilisi”, protesters will continue protesting until the plans are withdrawn.

The complex within the Panorama Project will consist of a 5-star section on Freedom Square and a 4-star section in Old Tbilisi, with Sololaki becoming home to 4-star hotels.
