Georgian Airways Tbilisi-Moscow Route Cancelled
Georgian Airways has been faced with a dilemma after the Russian Aviation Authorities decided to cancel four flights per week on their Tbilisi - Moscow route.
In a press release, the airline said "Georgian Airways has actively tried to ensure competitive prices on the many routes we now offer; yet we have received an order from Russian aviation authorities to cancel four flights per week from Tbilisi to Moscow. This was not long after Russia refused to permit flights from Tbilisi to Kazan, despite the fact that the aviation authorities of both counties had agreed on flights between Tbilisi and Moscow (3 per day)"
It would seem, however, that Russian companies are continuing to operate flights to and from Georgia. Yet, hundreds of passengers who have already bought tickets on Georgian Airways Tbilisi-Moscow route have been left in a very uncertain situation.
The airline has said that the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia has not responded to the situation, "Unfortunately, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, which should take adequate measures and defend the interests of the Georgian airline, has not responded to the illegal actions of the Russian side, which poses great problems for both the passengers as well as Georgia's national airline. We ask the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development to immediately take appropriate measures regarding this issue", the statement reads.
