Construction of New Terminal at Kutaisi International Airport to Start in August

The Kutaisi International Airport terminal expansion project is planned to start in August this year, Giorgi Kvirikashvili, Prime Minister of Georgia, announced at the weekly government meeting last week. The new terminal is expected to be able to receive six flights simultaneously.

Combined with the construction of a railway platform in front of the airport gate, the new terminal project will serve an increasing number of passengers, enabling them to travel with greater comfort. The three-kilometer railway construction to Kutaisi airport started in April 2017 to allow travelers to get to the airport terminal by train.

The Prime Minister noted that the 92% increase in passenger flow is a result of the visa liberalization process, and reflects the efforts undertaken in the direction of tourism growth.

Kutaisi International Airport, which operates a number of low-cost flights, was opened in 2012.
