Heavy Rain, Wind Hits Ureki & Shekvetili Villages in Guria

Heavy rain and wind hit the villages of Ureki and Shekvetili in the region of Guria yesterday night. The wind was strong enough to rip trees from their roots and damaged electricity lines and cars; as well as flooding yards and ground floors of houses and shops, even destroying the roofs of five houses.

Emergency services have been working on site. They are currently working in Ureki together with local volunteers, in order to clear blocked roads.

By now, according to the information from Energo Pro Georgia, the majority of the local population have had electricity restored, which was cut off yesterday due to the electricity lines being damaged. It is expected that all residents in both Ureki and Shekvetili will have electricity fully restored today.
