Borjomi Update
Intensive works continued all night to localize the remaining areas of fire in Borjomi Forest.
The Georgian Public Broadcaster reported this morning, quoting Prime Minister Kvirikashvili, that the still-burning areas have been isolated from the remaining healthy part of the forest. Six helicopters and 1500 people are still working on site.
Overall, since the break out of the blaze on Sunday, 12 kilometers of road have been cut to reach the burning sections of forest.
“The situation is under control,” the Prime Minister said, once again thanking the governments of the countries that had expressed readiness to help extinguish the fire, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Armenia and Belarus.
Following the latest reports, more than 10 hectares of land are said to have been damaged by the fire.
