Those involved in Fire Fighting Operations to Receive Financial Bonuses

The Prime Minister of Georgia has Asked Minister of Finance Kumsishvili to arrange financial bonuses for the employees of different agencies involved in the recent firefighting operations. As Giorgi Kvirikashvili noted, all those who were involved in the liquidation of fires need to be rewarded for their work.

The Prime Minister also said that systematic changes are needed, and the infrastructural equipment has to be renovated, together with the development of the structure of the crisis council.

As Kvirikashvili pointed out, as soon as the Abastumani fire is fully extinguished, the work will start on resources to be allocated and to be considered in the state budget both for this year and the next. The Prime Minister underlined that systematic changes are needed in order for the country to have a higher level of readiness for this type of disaster.

The Prime Minister said that around 200 hectares of forest has been burnt down in the recent fires, although this figure is yet to be confirmed.

“We will of course restore the burnt down forest, it is our responsibility,” Kvirikashvili said, noting that in a joint effort with Georgian citizens and those who would like to help, the forest will be restored.

Kvirikashvili expressed his gratitude to all the countries that helped Georgia with the firefighting operations.
