Update: Mtatsminda Mountain Fire Extinguished
Update 02.09.17 - The fire on the slope of Mtatsminda mountain in Tbilisi has been localized.
After the helicopter was involved in the fire-extinguishing efforts, the fire was put out on Friday evening.
As reported, around 2 hectares area has been destroyed.
01.09.17 - New fire has hit the capital of Georgia, Tbilisi. This time the fire broke out on Mountain Mtatsminda.
Emergency Situations Service reports that firefighting brigades immediately started working at the scene. Helicopter has also engaged in the fire extinguishing efforts.
The Agency says that the fire will be localized from two sides.
“Our groups are working on the ground. The fire has reportedly spread on grass,” the agency said.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that around 10 firefighting brigades and more than 50 rescuers are working in Mtatsminda.
