Zurab Pololikashvili Appointed as Secretary-General of UNWTO
Zurab Pololikashvili, Georgia's former Ambassador to Spain, has been appointed as UNWTO Secretary General, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia reports.
Pololikashvili was selected by the UNWTO General Assembly within its 22nd session taking place in Chengdu, China, from September 12 to September 15.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia stated that this is the first time a Georgian candidate has been selected to such a high-ranking post within the international organization.
The Georgian delegation, headed by Mikheil Janelidze, Georgia’s Vice-Premier and Foreign Minister, attended the ceremony, while participating at the UNWTO’s General Assembly.
