Georgia’s Interior Ministry Sets Road Restrictions to Ease Traffic for Olympic Festival
The European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) Tbilisi 2015 starts tomorrow, with Georgia’s capital city expecting to host thousands of athletes from 49 nations.
The 13th EYOF kicks off on July 26 and will continue until August 1 with nine sports being represented at Tbilisi 2015: judo, tennis, artistic gymnastics, cycling, athletics, swimming, volleyball, handball and basketball.
In respect of the event, the Ministry of Internal Affairs plans to impose some restrictions on Tbilisi streets. These are detailed below:
On July 26, from 18:20 until 19:40 and from 22:00 to 22:30, traffic will be banned in the vicinity of Mikheil Meskhi (Lokomotiv) Stadium – from the crossroad of Tsereteli and Chavchavadze avenues to the Turtle Lake entrance.
On July 27, from 15:00 until 18:00, traffic will be banned on Aghmashenebeli Lane at the entrance to the city in the direction of Mtskheta, whilst two-way traffic will be available in the direction of Tbilisi.
On July 28, from 08:00am until 20:00 traffic movement will be banned on Aghmashenebeli Lane in the direction of Mtskheta; two-way traffic will be available in the direction of Tbilisi.
On July 29, from 15:00 until 19:00 movement will be fully banned on the Tbilisi Sea highway.
On July 30, from 08:00 until 19:00 traffic will be fully banned on the Tbilisi Sea highway.
The Ministry calls on citizens to refrain from traveling by car on the above-mentioned roads at said times.
