The Solar Alliance Opens New Opportunities for Ghana

Expensive sources of energy can be successfully replaced with renewable energy. It is certainly today’s reality for Ghanaians, thanks to a ratified agreement with the International Solar Alliance.

The Ghanaian Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko, stated that the ratification will significantly decrease the cost of energy production. Consequently, the national budget will benefit from the agreement as well. Moreover, the country will be less dependent on hydro-power. The solar energy will be introduced in public establishments firstly. According to Yen Press Agency, 36,000 Junior High Schools and 681 Senior High Schools are expected to be functioning on the solar power from now on. 

Boakye Agyarko told that thorough research would be conducted in order to be absolutely sure of using the solar energy as the main source of power. It will take 1-2 months to officially become a member of ISA where new opportunities for us will be presented. 

Freda Prempeh (The NPP member of Parliament for Tano North) suggested that villages should come into the spotlight as far as alternative sources of energy are concerned. It will save a significant amount of money for locals. The new energy production will offer job for unemployed people.
