Editor-in-Chief of The Messenger Zaza Gachechiladze Dies at 70
Zaza Gachechiladze, Editor-in-Chief of the daily English newspaper in Georgia -The Messenger, passed away at the age of 70.
He was a Ph.D, a specialist in English literature and the author of books on Dylan Thomas and Geoffrey Chaucer, the lecturer at Tbilisi State University and a journalist too.
He created the Messenger as it is now in the beginning of 1990s. Prior the Messenger, he founded and was Editor-in-Chief of the English language Georgian Times from 1994-2001.
At the Messenger Zaza Gachechiladze mainly used to employ his students, adding it would be a good start for their successful future lives. During the years of his being Editor-in-Chief, he helped his students to gain experience and to become professional journalists.
He was a high-level professional, a patriot who was always trying to be of his best service to his country and particularly, younger generation.
The funeral is on October 21, 2pm, at Saburtalo Cemetery.
