Council of Europe to Present Results of Their Joint Projects in Georgia

On Friday, 3 November, the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia and the Council of Europe will present to the media the results of their joint projects in Georgia.

Eight projects have been carried out in Georgia in 2015-2017 with a total budget of 3.7 million euros, funded by the EU (90%) and Council of Europe (10%). They have assisted with the (1) application of the European Convention on Human Rights; (2) civic integration of national minorities; (3) strengthening the Georgian Bar Association; (4) improving healthcare in prisons; (5) countering money laundering; (6) promoting freedom, professionalism and pluralism of the media; (7) protecting internet freedom; (8) as well as elections.

In addition to these country-specific projects, Georgia has also participated in 14 regional initiatives.

David Zalkaliani, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Georgia, Vincent Rey, Head of Cooperation Section at the Delegation of the European Union to Georgia, Cristian Urse, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Georgia, and Inga Kubetsia, PGG National Coordinator at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will open the presentation and reply to questions from media representatives.

The presentation will take place at 10.00 a.m. local time on Friday, 3 November 2017, at Holiday Inn Tbilisi (26 May Square 1). English-Georgian interpretation will be provided.
