Two Significant Reforms to be Introduced to The Georgian Healthcare System

While today, the costs of surgery is subject to vary at different clinics, this will soon change in Georgia, with prices being standardized, according to Akaki Zoidze, Head of the Parliamentary Healthcare Committee. Indeed, more efficient financing of the healthcare system will be introduced, to improve the quality of service, in line with the standards that are used in 120 countries across the world. “A fair method of calculation will be used when deciding tariffs,” Zoidze said.

Furthermore, as part of another reform to the healthcare system, the ability for prescriptions to be issued online will be introduced. “The method has already been initiated within the framework of the pilot project. The method of issuing prescriptions online will be one of the more significant aspects of the reform that needs to be established throughout Georgia. The prescriptions will be issued and controlled via online methods. The process will be transparent for patients, for doctors, for pharmacies and the Ministry as well. Today it is optional, but it will become mandatory,” Akaki Zoidze has declared.
