Mayor Kaladze Orders the Cleaning of Tbilisi’s Underground Passages

Kakha Kaladze, the newly elected Mayor of Tbilisi, has ordered the Head of TbilService Group to clean and equip the underground passages with lighting, noting that it was a critical priority.

"Today we have seen underground passages and the situation is critical there - a very difficult situation. Here are some directions. The first thing I want to ask to the head of Tbilservice Group is to start cleaning the underground passages today and equip them with lights. There were lights, but everything is damaged and destroyed. People should have the opportunity to use underground passages and move normally," Kaladze said.

Furthermore, Kaladze added that he had instructed the group to implement a standardization of the underground passages within the next 10 days.

"We know that some of the underground passages in the city have been sold out, some are leased. We do not plan on touching anyone's property. I would just like a single standard to be developed, and all owners of the passages to observe it”, he said.
