Localised Fire in “Dviri” Village, Borjomi

Early yesterday firemen managed to put out a fire in the village of “Dviri” in the Borjomi district. According to the Governor of Samtskhe-Javakheti, Akaki Machutidze, about 150 local workers were actively involved in attempting to contain the fire as well as some other local help. They worked through the night to keep the wood safe from the blaze with help from two helicopters sent by the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The Governor has announced that there is no danger for the populated areas.

“The main reasons fo the burning wood still remain unknown. An investigation into the fire is underway.” Machutidze said in a statement. 

According to locals the fire spread over six hectares of wood early yesterday afternoon.
