Akhmet Chataev Identified as One of People Killed During Tbilisi Anti-Terrorist Op
The State Security Service of Georgia has confirmed that Akhmet Chataev has been identified among the people killed during the special operation in Isani, Tbilisi. The information was just announced in a briefing. “With the help of the expertise carried out by our American colleagues, comprised of DNM analysis and fingerprint analysis, Akhmet Chataev has been identified as one of the persons killed during the anti-terrorist special operation,” State Security Service’s representative said, adding that none of the people killed during the special operation had ID’s with them, and that international partners of Georgia’s State Security Service are involved in the process of identification.
It was also announced during the briefing that within they are investigating how they arrived to Georgia in the first place, and any other potential terrorist links. During a 20-hour special operation, two people form the terrorist group were killed, Chataev ending up committing suicide with a bomb.
As the State Security Service of Georgia representative noted, information stating that two people managed to run from the apartment during the special operation is not true. At this stage of the investigation, State Security Service of Georgia is said to be working with its international partners on potential threat prevention measures, in order to ensure that the security and safety of the population is guaranteed.
The investigation is still ongoing.
