MIA: Visitor Numbers 9.5% Up in July 2015
The Information-Analytical Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) published the statistical data on the visitors having crossed the state border of Georgia during the last month, in July, 2015, which amounted to 737 696. This number is 9.5 % more than the index of the same period in 2014.
The correlation of specific numbers is as follows:
a) Tourist – 336,664 visits (45. 6%, of general number, increase by 2.2% in comparison with the same index of last year);
b) Transit –182,693 visits (24.8% of general number, increase by 24.7% in comparison with the same index of last year);
c) Other – 218,339 visits (29.6%, of general number, increase by 10.4% in comparison with the same index of last year).
The majority of visits in July 2015 were paid from Armenia, with 180,099 visitors (+11.9%), followed by Azerbaijan 160,285 visitors (+7.9%), Turkey with 152,178 visitors (+12%), the Russian Federation with 140,390 (+6.6%), Ukraine – 18 846 (+0.6%). Visitors from the European Union amounted 35,778, which is a 7.3% increase compared to the 2014 July index.
The list of top countries from which visitors came to Georgia in July 2015, continues with Israel, Poland, Kazakhstan, Belarus and Germany.
The statistics show that last month there was a significant increase in visitors from United Arab Emirates, with an 768% increase, and Saudi Arabia with an 137% increase. Also worthy of note is the number of visits from the USA: 12%.
In contrast, Georgia has experienced a 69% decrease of visitors from Iran, Chinese visitors decreased by 13 %, and the number of the visitors from Poland also dropped by 12%.
For the January-July period the number of visits to the country amounted in total 3,069.999: 4.9% more than the index of the same period in 2014.
In this period, the positive tendency can be observed in connection with the following EU countries, which traditionally took the leading positions: Lithuania (+23%), Czech Republic (+23%), Germany (+15%), Great Britain (+15%) Latvia (+15%) and the Netherlands (+15%).
