Weather in Tbilisi Worsens Over the Weekend

Cold weather fronts struck Tbilisi and the surrounding regions this weekend, with the capital’s suburbs worse hit. The city’s Tsavkisi Valley district, located 800m above sea level, saw continuous snow Saturday night and all through day Sunday. The city council did not grit the streets, creating difficulty for residents making their way down to the city on Monday morning.

This comes just days after strong winds hit the capital, severing cable car operations and felling numerous tress across Tbilisi. The worst of the cold weather front has now passed, with temperatures slowly creeping up over the course of this week.
