Florida School Shooting Leaves At Least 17 Dead

At least 17 adults and children died and dozens more injured during a deadly shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where a former student opened fire on Wednesday.

The gunman, armed with a semiautomatic AR-15 rifle, was identified as Nikolas Cruz, a 19-year-old who had been expelled from the school, authorities said.

As reported by media, he began his shooting rampage outside the High School shortly before end of school, at around 2:40 p.m. He then made his way inside and proceeded down hallways he knew well, firing at students and teachers who were scurrying for cover.

According to a law enforcement source, the suspect initially mixed in with the crowd of students to try to get away, but it didn't work and he was taken into custody about an hour after the shooting began.
