European Commissioner Hahn on Significant Progress in Georgia-EU Relations

European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn stated at today’s face-to-face meeting with Georgian PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili that he welcomes the significant progress in Georgia-EU relations and the reform efforts of the Georgian Government.  The meeting was held during the 54th Munich Security Conference.

The parties discussed the outcomes of the implementation of the Association Agreement and the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement.

The discussion also involved the new complex Georgia-EU Association Agenda that defines priorities until the year 2020, including reforms seeking to strengthen democratic institutions and other directions.

European Commissioner Hahn emphasized the EU’s readiness to continue supporting the Government of Georgia in the process of reforms and the successful implementation of the joint Georgia-EU Agenda.

The parties also discussed the state of affairs in Georgia’s occupied territories.  Johannes Hahn reaffirmed the EU’s firm support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty within its internationally recognized borders.
