Fire-Fighting Brigades Put Out Fire Near Former Mikhailov Hospital

21 fire-fighting brigades and around 100 fire-fighters were working all night to extinguish fire in a historic building next to former Mikhailov hospital, located on Aghmashenebeli Avenue, Tbilisi.

As reported, at first the fire started on the roof of the building and then expanded throughout the 1500 square meters.

The building was empty and luckily no one was injured in the fire.

The exact reason of fire is unknown.

Mamuka Kirimeli, Deputy Head of Tbilisi Emergency Situations Service, stated the firefighters worked very effectively and managed to put up the blaze in three hours.

Governor of Chugureti district, Zurab Chikviladze arrived at the site last night. According to him, the burnt building was a historic site of the capital.

“The police have launched an investigation and I hope soon we will know what the real reason of the fire was,” the governor said.
