National Agency: Wine Export From Georgia Increases in 2018
Georgia’s National Wine Agency (NWA) reports that, in terms of wine export growth, this year has seen a positive start.
The NWA published the results of the January-February wine export statistics, according to which, 10.8 million bottles of wine were exported to 38 countries worldwide, which is 23% higher than the same data from last year.
In total, the income from wine export in January-February 2018 amounted to $24.3 million, which is 18% higher than data from the same period in 2017.
Wine export this year increased in the following countries: Japan 213% growth (44,292 bottles), the United Kingdom ,137% (36,108), Estonia 75% (88,326), Israel 58% (31,272), Latvia 43% (262,110), Poland 41% (441,202), Netherlands 32% (13,491), Russia 30% (7,425,286), Kazakhstan 29% (501,282), Germany 27% (109,834), Ukraine 13% (972,976), France 9%, (14,036).
The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgian wine in January-February this year are: Russia – (7,425,286), Ukraine - (972, 976), China - (559,168), Kazakhstan – (501,282) and Poland – (441, 202).
The Georgian National Wine Agency says in total, 109 Georgian companies exported wine from Georgia.
As for brandy and Chacha exports, 2.2 million bottles of Georgian brandy and 29,800 bottles of Chacha were exported abroad in the first two months of this year.
