50 Georgians Deported from Germany
Germany has deported another wave of Georgians who violated the visa-free rules and stayed in the country longer than the permitted 90 days in any 180 day period.
Those citizens of Georgia who asked for asylum in Germany were also expelled.
In total, 50 people were deported on March 21, children among them.
Georgian media reports that among the deported are those who have been living in Germany for a number of years awaiting asylum.
The official reason for the mass deportation is an agreement between Germany and Georgia allowing the deportation of Georgians who violate the visa-free regime.
"The reason for the deportation of the Georgian citizens was that they did not have grounds for requesting asylum," Irma Tsiramua, a FRONTEX representative, told journalists.
Germany deported 65 Georgians on February 21 and plans to deport more Georgian citizens in future.
