Sport Coach Sentenced to Pre-trial Detention for Sexually Harassing Minor
Zugdidi City Court has sentenced a 65-year-old sport coach to two months in pre-trial detention for sexual harassment of his student, a 15-year old girl.
The information about the coach’s attempt to seduce his student went viral after the alleged victim took a video of her conversation with the teacher in order to prove he was trying to harass her.
In the video, the coach allegedly tries to kiss the student, using filthy language and trying to touch the underage girl.
The man was arrested by the police two days ago. The Court announced the verdict yesterday.
Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office has also released a statement regarding the case, saying the man faces from 5 to 7 years in prison if found guilty.
The investigation is ongoing under Article 141 (1) of the Criminal Code of Georgia.
The Prosecutor’s Office added that a psychologist is working with the victim.
Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports that the detained man pleaded guilty.
“The investigation found that on March 23 of this year, Chkhorotsku women's football team coach A. K. committed defamation acts in his garage and residential apartment against V. K, born in 2002, who was temporarily living in the coach’s house,” the MIA reports.
