24 Children Die in India School Bus Accident
Up to 30 people were killed, including 24 children, in a school bus accident in the mountainous region of India on Monday afternoon.
The bus was taking the children home in the Kangra district in Himachal Pradesh, about 500 kilometers (300 miles) north of New Delhi, when it fell into a gorge.
The children are between 5 and 14 years of age, according to the Times of India. The Associated Press, however, reports that some of those who died were as young as 4.
The adults killed included the bus driver, two teachers and another woman, officials said.
According to media, 10 children were hospitalized. Of those children, at least three are in a critical condition, according to the Times of India.
The reasons behind the accident are not yet clear. An investigation has already been launched into the case.
