President Meets Murdered Teen’s Father outside Parliament
The President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, arrived at the old building of Parliament, where the protesters have set up three tents, in solidarity with the two teenage boys who were stabbed to death on December 1 and their families.
Margvelashvili held a meeting with Zaza Saralidze, father of one of the slain boys, who is leading a large-scale protest rally, asking for a “fair investigation” and the resignation of high-ranking officials.
Earlier this morning Zaza Saralidze released a letter saying that the only person from the government who is supporting him is the president of Georgia and his family.
After the meeting, the president stated he will get involved in the process of revealing the truth.
Margvelashvili stated he will do his best to ensure stability in the country.
“My goal is to have a relationship with Zaza and other people who have this pain in their hearts, in order to ensure peace in the country,” he stated.
The President added that he will also have communication with the government.
Saralidze himself noted that the president promised him the truth will be revealed and there will be no more questions left.
“My only demand towards the president was to hold all the people involved in my son’s murder responsible,” Zaza Saralidze said.
