Gvaramia Questioned at Tbilisi City Court
Nika Gvaramia, the former Director-General of Rustavi 2 TV, was questioned in the presence of Magistrate Judge at the Tbilisi City Court today.
“I know I haven't committed a crime, and even if I needed to, I am a very good lawyer and I can leave no evidence,” Gvaramia told reporters before entering the Court building.
When asked whether he expects his status to be changed from the “witness” to “defendant”, Gvaramia said that he did not exclude the possibility of his detention today.
The Prosecutor’s Office stated that documents and electronic information will be seized from the contractor companies of the Rustavi 2 broadcasting company, including Intermedia and Intermedia Plus within the framework of the investigation into abuse of power against the legitimate interests of Rustavi 2 and misappropriation of a large amount of funds.
According to the statement of the Prosecutor's Office, the investigation was launched based on the statement of the lawyer of Nino Nizharadze, former owner of 9% of Rustavi 2 shares.
