Nika Gvaramia Questioned at Tbilisi City Court

Questioning of Nika Gvaramia, the Former Director-General of Rustavi 2 TV Company, has been completed at the Tbilisi City Court.

Gvaramia’s questioning in the presence of a magistrate judge lasted for over 2 hours.

As Gvaramia told reporters after the interrogation, the questions were mainly about the advertisement deals signed by Rustavi 2.

“They were asking me about the advertisement deals and prices of the contracts. Discussing this issue does not make sense. However, the prosecutors can’t do anything, they are ordered to do it. It almost means to ask winemakers why and how the prices on wine are determined in the market,” Nika Gvaramia stated.

The Prosecutor does not clarify whether Gvaramia will be again summoned for questioning.

“Nika Gvaramia was asked all the questions that were interesting for the investigation and the answers were received, - Zviad Gubeladze, the prosecutor of the case, told journalists.

He also noted that after reviewing the recording of the hearing, various investigative actions will be launched.

As stated by the Prosecutor’s Office, documents and electronic information will be seized from the contractor companies of the Rustavi 2 broadcasting company, including Inter Media and Inter Media Plus within the framework of the investigation into the abuse of power against the legitimate interests of Rustavi 2 and misappropriation of a large amount of funds.

According to the statement of the prosecutor's office, the investigation was launched into the case based on the statement of the lawyer of Nino Nizharadze, former owner of 9% of Rustavi 2 shares.
