Investigation Underway at Rustavi 2
An investigation, involving the seizure of documents and electronic information from the company’s archive are ongoing in the Rustavi 2 TV Company building.
Reportedly, the investigation is underway in the part of the company where Rustavi 2 contractor Intermedia was located.
The representatives of the investigative body seized documents from Intermedia yesterday.
As stated by the Prosecutor’s Office, documents and electronic information would be seized from the contractor companies of the Rustavi 2 broadcasting company, including Intermedia and Intermedia Plus within the framework of the investigation into the abuse of power against the legitimate interests of Rustavi 2 and misappropriation of a large amount of funds.
According to the Prosecutor's Office statement, the investigation was launched into the case based on the statement of Nino Nizharadze's lawyer. Nizharadze is a former owner of 9% of Rustavi 2 shares.
Nika Gvaramia, the Former Director-General of Rustavi 2 TV Company, was questioned at Tbilisi City Court today. His questioning in the presence of a magistrate judge lasted for over two hours.
As Gvaramia told reporters after the interrogation, the questions were mainly about the advertisement deals signed by Rustavi 2.
The Prosecutor has not said whether Gvaramia will be again summoned for questioning.
“Nika Gvaramia was asked all the questions that were interesting for the investigation and the answers were received," Zviad Gubeladze, the prosecutor of the case, told journalists.
He also noted that after reviewing the recording of the hearing, various investigative actions will be launched.
