Pensions and Salaries to be Increased from Next Year
The Prime Minister of Georgia, Giorgi Gakharia, stated at the extraordinary sitting of Parliament today that the state budget 2020 provides the opportunity for increasing pensions for older people, persons with disabilities under the age of 18, persons with disabilities of first and second groups, as well as for increasing the salaries for teachers, law enforcers, soldiers, doctors, etc.
In particular, he noted that the pensions for older people, persons with disabilities under the age of 18 and persons with disabilities of first and second groups will be increased by GEL 50, while for older people over 70 they will be increased by GEL 50 from next year.
“Of course, we all understand that this is the obligation of the state and this is the minimum we can do to effectively help our citizens,” he added.
At today's sitting, the PM assessed the draft budget 2020, noting that it is “socially responsible and focused on citizens’ needs and economic development.”
"The development of our country in 2020 will depend on the effective fulfillment of this budget," he emphasized.
