Patriarch: I Have Never Thought of Punishing Anyone

‘’I have never thought of punishing anyone. I always think only of your help,” His Holiness and Beatitude Catholicos-Patriarch of All Georgia said, adding that the Church must do everything to ensure peace in the country as well as in Church.

“We should not give the public reason to be obstructed towards the faith and the Church. Today, we are gathered here not to punish anyone, but to help one another. We should not make each other’s burden heavier. I have never thought of punishing anyone. I always think only of your help,” the Patriarch said.

The statement refers to yesterday's meeting of the Holy Synod, which ended with scandalous results. In particular, the Metropolitan of Chkondidi, Petre Tsaava, being fired from the position of Bishop by the Synod because he submitted incriminating evidence against Patriarch Ilia II.
