More than 20,000 People Examined in Marneuli and Bolnisi
Special groups in Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities have examined more than 20,000 people and only 25 had a fever, the Georgian Prime Minister's spokesman Irakli Chikovani said at a briefing after the meeting of the Inter-Agency Coordination Council.
He added that only two of those with fever require particular attention.
"We started to examine people in both districts. The groups staffed by local government officials and medical personnel have already been able to examine more than 20,000 people. Only 25 people had a fever, two of whom have been hospitalized in Marneuli,” Chikovani said.
Since March 23, the Marneuli and Bolnisi municipalities of the Kvemo Kartli region of Georgia have been under strict quarantine.
Travel has been banned in and out of the two municipalities, while all businesses are closed except critical infrastructure such as grocery stores and drug stores.
The government made the above decision after a middle-aged woman from the Marneuli municipality tested positive for the new coronavirus. The woman, who is in a critical condition and has pneumonia, had been in contact with dozens of people.
