Tightened Quarantine Imposed in Several Villages of Kobuleti Municipality
The Georgian government has decided to declare tightened quarantine in several administrative units of Kobuleti municipality, in the Adjara region of western Georgia, due to the increasing number of COVID-19 infection cases on the spot.
The Prime Minister's Press Speaker Irakli Chikovani made the corresponding statement at a briefing at the government administration this morning.
He noted that strict restrictions will be imposed in the following villages of Kobuleti: Gvara, Mukhaestate, Legva and Tskavruka, where new cases of coronavirus have been reported.
These villages will be declared a quarantine zone and will go into total lockdown.
In addition to the restrictions imposed within the framework of the state of emergency, entry and exit to these administrative units is prohibited.
Officers of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Defense Forces will control the execution of this regime.
Citizens will be able to go out only when they need to buy products or medicine or receive medical care. They will have the right to carry out agricultural works if they adhere to the protocol specifically designed for such cases.
The data showed that there were 21 confirmed cases of coronavirus infection in Adjara in total, including 11 people from the Kobuleti cluster related to the village of Gvara.
Yesterday, six new patients from the Kobuleti cluster tested positive for coronavirus, including a 10-year-old child.
Accordingly, the number of people infected in this cluster has increased to 17, while in Adjara it has increased to 27.
On March 23, two municipalities of Georgia's Kvemo Kartli region, Marneuli and Bolnisi, were put under quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic.
On April 10, tightened quarantine was also declared in Lentekhi Municipality in Georgia's western region of Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.
Kobuleti is the fourth municipality in Georgia where tightened quarantine has been imposed so far.
